FAMILY'S HEARTBREAK Retired NHS medic, 57, who returned to frontline died of coronavirus just four days after his dad passed away
A RETIRED NHS medic who returned to the frontline died of coronavirus just days after his dad passed away.
Andrew Treble, 57, died on Wednesday at Wrexham Maelor Hospital, where he had worked for almost 40 years.
Mr Treble, who worked as an operating theatre assistant, died four days after his 85-year-old dad Tony passed away.
He had been living in a care home but went into hospital after suffering a fall.
He died at Shrewsbury Hospital last weekend.
Family members said losing Andrew and Tony in such a short space of time was "horrific".
Andrew leaves behind a 17-year-old daughter, Emily, and four sisters.
Paying tribute one of his sisters, Maria, 54, said her brother would "always put everyone else before himself".
She said: "He'd put a picture on Facebook of him in his PPE, and said 'This is what I've got to work in now'. We'd all made jokes about it with my dad, because my dad had got poorly.
"They tried everything. (Andy) was on a ventilator for several days and we thought he was getting better, but in the end he had massive organ failure and we lost him (Wednesday) lunchtime.
"We are devastated by his loss but would like to thank the Critical Care team who did their very best for Andy and above all were there for him at the very end.
"We will be forever grateful to them.
"Andy absolutely loved working at the Maelor, his colleagues were his other family.
"He had a very kind nature and always put everyone else before himself. He was always laughing and smiling, he was such a good man."
